Just to let you know that DJ Mamoo played a really fantastic set at HOME this Tuesday!!
I have heard Mamoo many, many times before as most of you have, but this time he played some music I hadn't heard him play before. Some nice upbeat progressive tunes punctuated with sweet mellow ones! Great set from DJ Mamoo! If you've not heard him before, you really should try to catch one of his sets whenever and wherever he plays! Very dedicated musician and up and coming for sure. He's recently had his "Kalimba" and "Kalimba Up All Night" tracks released!! Congrats to him!! Thank you DJ Mamoo, loved it! WOW!!
On Saturday we had such a fantastic time!! And such wonderful music from three very special DJ's First up was DJ Zal Chevalier with a fabulous house set with just a twist of trance threaded throughout!! I have watched his progress over quite some time now, and he has really fine tuned his skills! If you've not heard him play before I hope that you make it a point to catch his set the next time he plays. And he has a wonderful sense of humor too, which is a very sweet addition to any party!! Thank you Zal! Then next we welcomed DJ Vipar Snook who really had his work cut out for him. Changed some programs in his computer that we thought would make it not possible for him to do his set. But in true form, he perservered and played a great vocal house set for us. This is one of those times when it is easy to tell when a music maker has a true love of music and a commitment to you the listener. His set was so wonderful and perfect for dancing!! And again, I have to say that if you've not heard DJ Vipar before, please do seek him out the next time he plays!! Thank you Vipar! Last but not least we were treated to the absolutely perfect sounds of DJ AlexPicotto Nemeth, who prefers to be referred to as AL-DJ. It's not very often that he plays in sl and so we were extremely lucky to have him play for us. The style of his set was techno, pure and perfect!! Every once in awhile I forgot to breathe as I listened to his magical music and sometimes I breathed too fast!! And thank you to all of you who were at HOME to party. I know I laughed a lot, chatted a lot, listened non-stop and was so very happy that everyone had such a great time! See you all the next time! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Friday night at HOME left me breathless!! And actually without words ( for a change, lol). DJ Wiu Bing started us off and................. ahhhhhhhhhhh, Wiu!! For those who have heard him play, you know why it's hard to describe one of his sets. So can I just say: Wiu, you rock!! Showing no mercy at all DJ Robot Recreant pounded out the tunes one after one. Just when I thought it was techno, here came some acid!! Robot has played nearly every style that there is at one time or another for us, and his sets are all consistantly flawless and ahhhhhhhhh, lol I am out of words again!! Let's just say: MAGIC! And as if we hadn't already been twisted and turned every which way including inside out, up next came DJ A8! Holy shit (oh, am I allowed to use that word here? I guess so because I just did) so let me say it again: Holy shit Altern8!!! Banging the tunes out one after one (in spite of needle troubles) he had us all dancing and partying so hard that the time flew right by! What a perfect set!! I know that everyone loved this party as much as I did, it was so easy to tell!! And yes, as usual we laughed and danced and had a really great time. We at HOME feel so very honored to have not only the best DJ's to be found, but also the best party goers in the whole world!! Thank you everyone for a perfect night!! DJ joachimzz Beck played a banging set last night!! wow!! Two hours of high energy sounds that kept us moving to the beat!! Hard driving and energizing for sure!! Yaaaaaaaay joa!!
Ribe Oh was not only amazing but his music was so good for our minds. He played such a fabulous selection of down tempo, heart touching tunes!! You cannot help but feel good when listening to Ribe play for you. And btw Ribe, I love how you managed to weave "Mary Poppins, Feed The Birds" in there too!! So that was our Tuesday night party. It was wonderful to have you all there. And those of you who weren't there were missed. See you all tonight for DJ Minimal and DJ A8!! Ohhhhhhhhh, for Wednesday we had such a wonderful party!!!
Altern8 (A8) played his scheduled set at 3:30 pm slt. (unfortunately Akira had internet troubles and couldn't play) As usual DJ A8 had lots of new music for us and what great tunes he selected! His style was pure A8, which is not easy to describe! A8's set this night was flawless! Not one single beat was missed, his mixing was over the top and totally seamless! He had one particular song that he used in his mix, and I want to say just a little about this since so many asked what it was. This was towards the end of his set and of course is a familiar song for everyone. It is known as: "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" which was originally done in 1892 by the great classical master composer Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. This song was written for the ballet known as "The Nutcracker" and was first done in St. Petersburg, Russia at Christmastime. It's a favorite of children all over the world and is timeless. You might be wondering why I am spending so much time on just this one part of DJ A8's set. And there is a very good reason for this, or at least I think so. Music has always been part of life since life began. Some is very primal, such as the beat of a drum (Altern8 also used some great examples of this with some music that had an African/Island flair, meaning lots of bongo's and so on). Other music is very sophisticated such as classical music, which of course includes Tchaikovsky. No matter when or where the music is conceived or played, it touches a place very deep down inside of all of us and is extremely powerful. So powerful that it can affect our moods, sometimes bringing us up and sometimes taking us way down; allowing us to "feel" what might be hidden deep inside our psyche. Music is simply an expression of the emotions experienced by each and every one of us. Just as an aside point: Electronic music (most notably minimal music) mimics the beating of our hearts and carries a simple and yet complex message to our brains and body functions. Lecture over!! LOL! Anyway, to sum his set up in just a few more words: Totally and completely satisfying!! See you all at his next set (Friday when he plays ACID), and of course each Wednesday! It was wonderful to have an Open Tuesday at HOME again!
We definately discovered some fabulous talent, that's for darn sure!! First we listened to an absolutely perfect acid set with DJ lo Moody who is from Berlin. Truly an amazing set, and you can be sure we'll be hearing more from DJ lo very soon! Thank you lo! Next, we had the one and only Mikkael Jaxxon who took over for the scheduled dj. Now you have seen Mikkael around of course, but did we know he did music too?!?! DJ Mikkael played a seriously killer minimal set!! Wonderful wonderful!! What more can we say about this?? Definately catch him next time he plays! Thank you so much Mikkael! And to finish the night off, last but not least was DJ Ace8 Clip from Japan! We were treated to a fanatastic electrohouse/techno set from DJ Ace8!! He might be boney but his tunes are FAT!! Truly an entertaining listen and wonderful to dance and party to!! Thank you DJ Ace8! We all love Open Tuesday at HOME because we are so lucky to hear different styles from all around the globe in a very short time. I am not sure if everyone realizes that it's very challenging for a dj to do only a one hour set. Takes time to warm us up and then take us on their music journey and bring us back HOME again! I encourage you to check out Open Tuesday the next time, which is the first Tuesday of every month. And also, if you see DJ lo, DJ Mikkael, or DJ Ace8 playing anywhere be sure to catch their set, you won't be sorry! See you all at the next Open Tuesday, and of course see you all before then. Take care everyone and remember how lucky we all are to share this time together. You are all great!! Tuesday, September 2. 2008Migueles; TheArtfullone and Minimal!! Ahhhhhhh, if you missed this party then you missed some wicked tunes!!
First we had Migueles Capalini on the HOME decks!! I really cannot begin to describe how fabulous his music is!! Great to listen to and perfect for dancing!! DJ Migueles rocked HOME just right! Next up we had TheArtfullone Skytower!! What a joy to hear his wonderful sounds!! His dedication and true love of music really shines through in his sets!! Absolutely breathtaking is the best way to describe what he played for us!! HOME tilted just a bit while he played and we definately lost all track of time!! To finish the night off in fine style we next had the pleasure of having Minimal Berliner take over HOME!! Minimal is consistantly wonderful and you can tell he's been travelling a bit since he incorporates a bit of latin flair to his music!! Way to go Minimal!!! A perfect ending to a perfect night! Thank you to these three fabulous music makers and thank you to all of you who came and partied with us!! See you all next time!! HOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Saturday (August 23rd) was a crazy day in SL!! Lots of issues of course for the weekend.
Nevermind that though, there were plenty of parties and a lot to see and hear. At 1 pm slt we listened and danced to the global house sounds of DJ Laureen Korhonnen. She did a great job!! Look for her again! Next at 3 pm slt we were treated to a really great set with a latin flair by DJ franfrf Arada!! Definately a name to watch for! At 5 pm slt rounding out the night was DJ Zal Chevalier who played a techno set with a trancy twist to it!! Very consistant and excellent tunes!! Another name to be watching for! It had been a few Saturday's without a party at HOME and I for one was so very happy to be able to hear three different styles all in one place in one day. It was a blast and I hope that those of you who were there enjoyed it as much as I did!! It's always great to spend time with all of you!! Thank you to the DJ's who work so hard for our listening pleasure and thank you to all of you who come to listen!!! See you next time! Wow!!! And another WOW!!
Wednesday is always a great party listening to DJ A8, we never know what he's going to play and we don't care!! He has so many different styles and he's mastered them all. And so it was no surprise that he and his music blew us all away!! Then we had a great surprise! (And yes, spontaneous sets often happen after DJ A8 plays) We were treated to a fabulous set by DJ Kloseline Flatley! He doesn't play often, and I wish he played more because whenever he does he kicks a** big time! These two blew us away with their excellent tunes!! And we had such a great crowd who truly appreciated what they were hearing! And yessssssssssssss, I know I always seem to say this but it was a fabulous party. And why do I repeat how great it is?? It's because we are so lucky to have such dedicated music makers and also to have such great people come HOME to party with us!! DJ A8 and DJ Kloseline are a great pair!! Thanks guys! |
